The shape of the Gold Bow symbolises the Thyroid Gland and the Gold Colour symbolises that your Thyroid Gland is more important to you than Gold!

Gold Bow Day Message!

Please don’t ignore any physical changes to your thyroid gland and any symptoms which may be related to changes in your thyroid function.

If you are concerned, please consult your doctor, and ask for a Thyroid Ultrasound to check the size, shape, and texture of the thyroid gland and to see if any nodules have developed on your thyroid gland.  Thyroid Function blood tests are also important to ensure nothing is missed in identifying and diagnosing any change.

Symptoms & Changes

  • If your thyroid gland has enlarged or become painful
  • If you can feel or can see any lumps on your thyroid gland
  • You have developed a persistent cough, or you constantly clear your throat
  • Your voice has changed in volume or has become hoarse
  • You have trouble swallowing or sleeping due to discomfort in your throat
  • Your thyroid function blood results have changed, resulting in hypo or hyper thyroid symptoms

Thyroid Cancer is increasing with more younger Australians being affected.

Types of Thyroid Cancer

  • Follicular
  • Papillary
  • Medullary
  • Hurthle Cell

Please don’t ignore the importance of Good Thyroid Health!

  2. Celebrate the day by wearing a fancy bow tie or a golden/yellow piece of clothing, or bake a ‘yellow’ cake. Be as creative as you want! Take a photo and share it on social media.
  3. Download our social media banner and share it on social media.

To make it easier for you, we have included below some useful messaging for your social media post. Please add the hashtag #CheckYourNeck so that we can follow your creative efforts! (You may also need to change the privacy setting of your post to ‘public’ for us to see it.) Alternatively, you can always add your selfie in the comments section of one of our Gold Bow Day posts – we would really appreciate it.

Here are some messages to cut and paste into your social media post. You may want to add some personal thoughts or experiences.
