ADVERSE EFFECTS TO MEDICATION

THERAPEUTIC GOOD ADMINISTRATION (TGA) – REPORTING ADVERSE EVENTS

If you experience an adverse event or side effect from taking a prescribed medication, over-the-counter medication, vitamin, supplement or herbal extract, please report the event to the TGA to be investigated:

NPS MEDICINE LINE

1300 MEDICINE (1300 633 424)

The NPS Medicine Line provides consumers with information on prescription, over-the-counter and complementary (herbal, ‘natural’, vitamin and mineral) medicines. Your question may be answered on the spot, or you may be referred to your GP or pharmacist, or other health professional. If you have a complex enquiry, you may be put through to an NPS pharmacist. Call 1300 MEDICINE (1300 633 424) from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local phone call (calls from mobiles may cost more).

Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm AEST (excluding NSW Public Holidays)

ADVERSE MEDICINE EVENTS LINE

The Adverse Medicine Events Line provides a reporting and advice service for adverse drug reactions or errors associated with medicine use. If you suspect that your medicine is causing a problem and you’re worried about using is, contact AME Line. The AME Line provides independent, accurate and evidence-based information.

Call 1300 134 237 from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local phone call (calls from mobiles may cost more).
